About
Welcome to the vibrant world of Chung Gi Wa, a gem nestled in the heart of PIK Avenue, Jakarta. This establishment offers an authentic taste of Korean cuisine, masterfully managed by Korean hands. It caters to both seasoned fans of the cuisine and newcomers exploring its delightful intricacies.
Set against the backdrop of a bustling area, Chung Gi Wa invites diners to savor a feast that elegantly combines flavors and textures. As soon as you step inside, the warm ambiance sets the tone for a delightful dining experience. Guests have shared that the restaurant is a perfect spot for a cozy chat while enjoying a meal without the distractions of a crowded space.
One of the standout features of this restaurant is its exceptional Korean BBQ. With an array of marinated meats—including tender beef and juicy pork—Chung Gi Wa makes every BBQ session a memorable one. The LA galbi, for instance, is praised for its tenderness and flavor, though some find its sauce slightly sweet. Nevertheless, it remains a crowd favorite. Additionally, the seafood pajeon dazzles with its crispy exterior and rich umami flavor, a dish that truly surprises with its substantial thickness.
The side dishes are worthy of their own accolades. Reviewers rave about the quality of the kimchi, despite some opinions on its sweetness, showcasing a thoughtful balance of flavors that defines Korean cuisine. The kimchi stew harmoniously complements the BBQ, while the assortment of street food options like tteok-bokki and odeng only adds to the allure, with tantalizing fragrances wafting in from the entrance.
For those looking for a comforting soup, the galbitang offers a robust beefy taste, though there are suggestions for an onion flavor boost to elevate it further. Such feedback reflects a chef's dedication to continuous improvement, which is a hallmark of Chung Gi Wa's philosophy.
Every visit to Chung Gi Wa promises delightful surprises, from the quality of the dishes to the welcoming atmosphere. As patrons enthusiastically recommend it, it’s no wonder this spot has become a beloved destination for Korean food enthusiasts. If you find yourself in the area, don't miss out on indulging in the hearty offerings of Chung Gi Wa, where every meal feels like a warm embrace of flavor and hospitality.
“ Korean restaurant managed by Korean. Even though they have been in Indonesia for a while now. Quality hasn't dropped. The side dishes are top notch. The soups too. They are selling oden and kimbap outside of the store now and both of them are quite good. Definitely recommend this one. ”
“ Meat barbeque taste really good with raw fresh vegetables along with kimchi stew. Street food like tteok-bokki, odeng, mini kimbab with lots of different kind of filling option are also available, the taste also nice. If you choose soup menu, rice is included. Side dish option, tea, and raw vegetables is free if you want to refill. The ambience is quite nice as well for having a nice chat, not too crowded and noisy but no ramen available in the menu. ”
“ Overall a great Korean BBQ spot in the PIK area. Definitely one of my comfort go-to when wanting lots of nicely marinated korean meat (both beef and pork). The seafood pajeon was amazing too. Crispy on the outside and umami on the inside. I definitely did not expect it to be that thick. But was a great unique dish. ”
“ Nice taste of Korean food. The kimchi little bit too sweet for me but its so nice. The fried is good to and not to much breading. The meat is nice and the soup has nice and warming taste. ”
“ Good kbbq at a reasonable price. Nice ambiance to the place, overlooking indomart tower. The pork platter starts at Rp 400,000 and is more than enough for a party of two. The LA galbi is tasty and tender, although the sauce itself is a bit on the sweet side. The galbitang has a strong beefy flavor, but in my opinion, falls a bit short on the flavor of onions that would have really pushed it into being a spectacular dish. Overall, it is a good value for money kbbq for a quick, satisfying dinner or a longer night out with friends. P.S: odeng and various other Korean street foods are served by the entrance of the restaurant. I did not get to try them this time around but they smelled amazing ”
